Innovation Day

Celebrating innovation day 2020

“a new idea, creative thoughts, new imaginations in form of device or method”. Innovation is the application of better solutions that may meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs.

Innovation Day takes place every February 16th. This day is dedicated to celebrating and bringing attention to those who are producing new products and services but also to those who are pushing the envelope on what is possible.

Innovation in Clinical Trials

There are many of us in clinical trials that are innovating and adopting those innovations to make clinical trials better for patients. Recently we’ve seen innovations in:

  • Patient recruitment
  • Direct to patient capabilities
  • Patient information exchange
  • Digital health (wearables, digital biomarkers, remote clinical trials)
  • AI-based technologies
  • Patient privacy and data protection
  • Quality and regulatory alignment with ICH E6 R2.

Innovation at MRN

Innovating for patients and customers is at the core of MRN and has been since our foundation in 2006. Since then, we’ve been pushing the envelope on what can be done to improve bringing clinical trials to patients, in their homes, communities, schools, places of work, or holiday location.  Our success in doing this is evident having delivered over 40,000 visits in over 40 countries.

At MRN we have a dedicated  R&D team whose role is to find new ways we can innovate and enhance our services.

We caught up with the R&D team to talk about what innovation means to them:

“I started as a scientist and innovating on a mini scale. I love looking at how things work and how they can be improved. Innovating at MRN is – taking everything we know and finding ways to make our services even better. MRN innovates every single day, as we build unique solutions not only for our clients but for the patients on the trials to make sure their medical needs are met at every step of participation.”

“Healthcare outside of a clinical trial is incredibly personalized and what we do is help to align clinical trial treatment to the treatment options that patients are used to experiencing in the wider world.

The concept of personalized medicine and treatments has been going on for a while, but it’s much more challenging in clinical trials, so finding new ways of bringing the technologies currently available in the “real life” to fill that gap but also comply with the complex regulatory requirements in clinical trials is crucial for successful innovation.”

Our values of Teamwork Engagement and Creativity provide the perfect environment for innovation. We encourage our teams across the business to think of what’s possible. We are proud that we continue to innovate to find more ways we can enable patient participation and improve the patient experience.
