MRN joins the Tufts CSDD PACT Consortium to define and measure the impact of decentralized clinical trials for the BioPharma industry.
Milton Keynes (27 November 2024) – Today, UK based Medical Research Network (MRN), the innovative market-leader of international community-based clinical trial delivery, announces their partnership with the Tufts CSDD PACT Consortium to further advance industry knowledge of the impact of decentralized clinical trial (DCT) solutions.
In 2023, Tufts CSDD established the PACT (Partnership for the Advancement of Clinical Trials) Consortium, a pre-competitive collaboration of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, contract research organizations, and niche service providers aimed at gathering and analyzing evidence on the actual use and impact of virtual and remote solutions in clinical trial planning and execution. It now has over 30 members working together to achieve three primary objectives:
- Establish consensus definitions and metrics for benchmarking DCT use and impact
- Gather hard data (dependent and independent variables) on actual DCT use cases
- Develop evidence-based insights to inform DCT deployment strategies and optimization
PACT was developed in response to a growing number of requests from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies seeking hard evidence to inform decisions regarding the deployment of DCT solutions. PACT activity is being conducted in coordination with DTRA, MRCT, CTTI, and other organizations and associations.
MRN is a global leader in Home Trial Support (HTS) services, having delivered over 110,000 in-home, decentralized visits since its inception in 2006. The HTS service brings clinical trial research visits to patients within their community – expanding trial reach and allowing patients from around the world to participate. Its innovative design, combined with MRN’s eClinical solutions, results in a decentralized, patient-centric ecosystem built to make trial participation more accessible and less burdensome to patients and their families delivering flexible trials with high quality data.
Todd McGrath, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Home Trial Support at MRN said: “With the clinical trial landscape becoming increasingly competitive, the complexity of protocols rising and Sponsors now under more pressure than ever to produce successful diversity action plans, it’s imperative that we examine how decentralizing clinical trials can deliver trial objectives while maintaining cost effectiveness. Being a part of the PACT Consortium allows us to bring nearly 20 years of DCT learning to the table and examine the impact of DCT solutions that can further enhance how we build trials for Sponsors, sites and patients, while contributing to the industry as a whole – driving innovation that will result in more effective and efficient ways to conduct clinical trials.”
This announcement furthers MRN’s mission to provide the gold standard platform of clinical trial services designed to work together in synergy, bringing trials closer to patients, while making trials faster, more efficient, more inclusive, and more accessible for all patients and all research sites around the world.
