MRN’s Continued Commitment To Sustainability

Author: MRN

World Earth Day is a call to all to take proactive action to protect our planet, not just for ourselves, but for the younger generations and the future ones to come. MRN is proud to be answering this call through our commitment to sustainability. We aim to maintain the highest standards and work with our colleagues and communities to bring about positive, long term sustainable changes.

As a business, our goals are driven by bringing healthcare to patients in their own homes and communities – eliminating the financial, physical, emotional, stressors and burdens of having to travel to traditional sites. This approach not only benefits patients, but it supports health systems, gets much-needed therapies and medicines to market faster, and ultimately promotes more balanced, healthy lifestyles – all contributing to a greener future.

To do this, we have both Sustainability and ESG programs in place to ensure our business operations are ethical and transparent, as well as continuing to work towards reducing our environmental impact. This is demonstrated through various initiatives, reporting and program participation.

Sustainability Initiatives, Reporting & Commitments

We use both environmental and social governance as the framework to measure our progress on sustainability. Part of that includes being registered with and applying for memberships with corporate sustainability groups such as EcoVardis and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

EcoVadis – We are currently registered with EcoVadis, which is a globally recognized organization. EvoVardis supports over 130,000 companies in 180 countries, across 200+ industries, and has a global network of more than 16,000 professionals from across various industries.

MRN scored “GOOD” and was awarded a Committed Badge. This means that we were able to demonstrate a structured and proactive sustainability approach, with policies and tangible actions on major topics – all indicative of a commitment to sustainability.

SBTi – MRN is applying for SBTi membership via the route for small and medium enterprises. The SBTi is a UK charity with partner organizations such as the United Nations Global Compact and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), working to develop standards and guidance on the lowering of greenhouse gas emissions. MRN is committed to the SBTi target-setting process and currently developing emissions reduction targets within the next 24 months.

We have also implemented our own internal initiatives to proactively develop sustainable, ethical practices.

MRN’s “Green Initiative” — Established in 2021, this initiative looks to find a “better way of doing things.” It covers strategies for energy consumption, waste reduction, recycling and/or donating of equipment and other assets, limiting travel and enhancing/providing green spaces.

Company Reporting – Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions first reported in 2022 in annual Directors’ Report, and continue to be reported on annually.

Working Together Towards Sustainable Practices

We are highly aware that while our clinical trial solutions better enable access to healthcare and improved patient care, they also have an environmental impact. To mitigate this, we have adopted sound environmental management policies that enable us to ethically provide our services. These include:

  • Working with suppliers & contractors that apply the same level of commitment & concern to environmental matters as we do.
  • Avoiding the unnecessary use of hazardous materials & processes, including materials with undesirable environmental impacts.
  • Empowering our employees & supporting them to make decisions that are aligned with our Environmental Policy.

We are proud of what we have achieved thus far, but we know there is still more to be done. We are deeply committed to continuing to improve and change every day to ensure that we have actively worked towards saving our wonderful planet.
