About the role…

We are now looking for a talented Interim Director of Procurement to join our team in Milton Keynes, UK on a full time, 12 month fixed term contract. The purpose of this interim role is to provide support and leadership of the existing team in creating a robust Procurement function, including the embedding of standard BAU procurement activities and processes suitable for MRN. The role will also involve training and obtaining buy-in from procurement naïve stakeholders within the business so after 9 months/1 year the Procurement function is able to independently drive the cost savings and relationship management that is open to MRN.

The role will work closely with the current two Procurement team members, the CIDO who oversees the Procurement Department as part of the wider Supply Chain group, other departments in the Supply Chain group, Finance, Contracts and Legal in MRN. You will also train and mentor the Procurement Team while supporting the career development of individuals within the Procurement function through tools such as career development plans.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications…

  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification is desirable, or equivalent by experience.
  • Significant contract management expertise is essential, including best practice knowledge, crossing geographical and cultural boundaries.
  • Prior experience of establishing and implementing new procurement processes, policies and systems is essential.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of creating a Procurement department or being a key part of, a developing Procurement department.
  • Previous experience training and/or mentoring others effectively.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is required, ideally from within the healthcare, pharmaceutical or clinical research arena.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and supplier partnerships.
  • Demonstrable experience of achieving measurable business improvements, including adding value, reducing costs, driving savings, and improving supplier performance.
